Steve Harrell was appointed President and CEO of Bert Fish Medical Center in July 2011, having previously served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 2002. As president of the community hospital, Harrell is responsible for planning, directing and managing the current operations, future growth, and program development for Bert Fish Medical Center.
Prior to joining Bert Fish Medical Center, Harrell worked for Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, as a Specialty Center Manager and as Chief Operations Officer. Earlier positions included an Assistant Administrator role for Columbia/HCA Healthcare and Diagnostic Services Director at Humana Hospital, both in Daytona Beach.
Harrell maintains many professional and community affiliations, serving on the board of both the New Smyrna Bible Chapel and the Horizons Unlimited Christian Camp and Retreat. He is also a member of the Edgewater Economic Development Board.
Harrell received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the Medical College of Virginia in 1979 and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida in 2006. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
