New Smyrna Beach Balloon & Sky Fest Airshow, November 8 - 10, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Smyrna Beach, Florida
January 10, 2019

The New Smyrna Beach Balloon & Sky Fest Airshow returns to the New Smyrna Beach Airport November 8-10,
2019.

The New Smyrna Beach Balloon and Skyfest Airshow strives to “inspire, motivate, and educate” while providing a
fun, safe, and family-oriented entertainment festival. The event focuses on making a difference through
community partnerships and the love of aviation. The three-day event has continued to provide multiple benefits
to the surrounding community through its direct charitable giving to nonprofit and civic groups, as it has since
2009. The Airshow is the only one hosted in Central Florida and draws an average of 25,000 people to New Smyrna
Beach annually, making a significant impact on the local economy. With the generous support of local business, the
Airshow encourages community cohesiveness, collaboration and a sense of connection to its neighbors.
For 2019, Veterans will be our distinguished guests and honored throughout the weekend with special activities,
exhibits, and award ceremonies. We have dedicated our Veterans support to Folds of Honor and Rooms 4
Warriors. The weekend incorporates areas of interest for all ages. Achievement and discovery of aviation in history
is reached when innovators play in the boundaries between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(STEM). We are delighted to provide an “Inspiration Village” exhibition for anyone interested in STEM related
fields. Here children explore educational STEM related hands-on exhibits every day, including robotics and marine
sciences.
Historically, the New Smyrna Balloon & Sky Fest begins with the traditional balloon glow Friday night to launch this
spectacular event. This is a breathtaking site and one of the most popular and scenic events during the festival.
Saturday and Sunday are packed with aerial demonstrations by some of the top acrobatic pilots in North America.
Confirmed appearances include the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, National Aerobatic Champion Patty Wagstaff,
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduate and retired Air Force pilot John Black and air show veteran Gene
McNeely. You’ll also see a 1940 Ford fire truck equipped with TWIN Rolls-Royce Bristol Viper jet engines (totaling
over 24,000 horsepower) that can travel at an amazing 407 MPH! Our military forces always delight with a
presence.
Between aerial acrobatics, you can enjoy a fully complemented carnival, catch a ride in a helicopter, explore static
aviation displays. and animal encounters, supporting local rescues. Sky Fest will also host a “Taste of New Smyrna
Beach” where restaurateurs serve up their favorite dishes in a festival atmosphere.
Join us and the SEV Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting under the hot air balloon on January 30th, 10:00 am
at the New Smyrna Beach Airport. We kick off a year of seeking support from the community and preparing to
bring this spectacular balloon festival and airshow back to New Smyrna Beach.
